Hi! I’m Anika, and I’m running the New York City Marathon in support of the National Kidney Foundation.

This cause is deeply personal to me. My dad has polycystic kidney disease and, when I was in middle school, he was saved by his twin sister, who donated her kidney. Now, as a medical student, I hope to one day care for patients with kidney disease. I’m deeply grateful for the work the National Kidney Foundation does to support patients and organ donors and to advance research and treatment.

I’m running this marathon for people like my dad, for the selfless donors who give others a second chance at life, and for the patients I will have the privilege of caring for in the future.
