Devin Archer
My name is Devin Archer, and I will be representing Team Kidney in the upcoming 2026 TCS NYC Marathon.
Representing the National Kidney Foundation is deeply personal for me and my family. My grandfather (“Papa"), battled with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) throughout his adult life. Papa was a role model to me; he was the first in our family to attend college at Clemson University. I followed in his footsteps and graduated from Clemson in 2016. After retiring at 56, he spent his years as the primary caretaker for my grandmother until her passing in 2020. My Papa’s condition worsened towards the end of 2025 and into this year, and our family made the difficult decision to forgo dialysis and move him into hospice care where he ultimately passed away on April 11, 2026.
Being a part of Team Kidney is an opportunity to further educate my community and support the mission of the National Kidney Foundation by raising funds for research and health equity. Right now, 37 million American adults are living with kidney disease. 1 in 3 people are at risk for kidney disease. I am participating to raise funds that support the National Kidney Foundation, who was the first to identify kidney disease as a distinct, treatable illness. They developed the staged system of kidney disease diagnosis and treatment – a worldwide standard today – and release and update treatment guidelines to improve patient care.
