A few years ago, I learned that my neighbor Alan was living with severe kidney disease and searching for a donor.

At first, I wasn’t involved. But after moving my office across the street from a transplant clinic, I decided to walk in and get tested.

Not long after, I got a call: I was a near-perfect match.

I said yes.

A few months later, I donated my kidney. The surgery went well, my recovery was quick, and today, years later, I’m healthy and thriving. But what stayed with me most wasn’t the procedure itself. It was what came after.

That one decision didn’t just impact Alan—it changed his family’s life, strengthened our community, and created a lifelong bond between us.

This April, in honor of Donate Life Month, I’m partnering with the National Kidney Foundation to raise awareness and critical funds for people facing kidney disease.

Over 90,000 Americans are on the transplant waiting list, with a three-to-five-year average wait. Unfortunately, 12 people waiting lose their lives every single day.
