Thanks to @Saucony and @RyanHartzell for OUT OF THE BLUE sending me a new set of RIDEs and Endorphin Trainers to get back on the pavement post-surgery. I have zero affiliation with Saucony other than loving their Rides, and I was blown away by their kindness and obvious love and support for the running community. Thanks @RyanHartzell for your 25 year friendship!

2025 - A Crazy Year to Say the Least!
As many of you know, this has been a crazy start to 2025. On Jan 6, Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis told me I had kidney cancer. We got lucky as Dr. Scott Groesch found it after I had a blood clot in my kidney after a run in Central Park of all places. That was an out of the blue surprise to say the least! BJC (Dr. Bhayani and team) immediately took my kidney out on Jan 20. The BJC crew (and some close friends from Mercy as well) are total studs.
I've been on a very strong path to recovery over the last 90 days. It's been 100% filled with love and kindness from everyone I know...my family, a lifetime of friends, amazingly helpful Stifel coworkers, and of course the incredible support from BJC doctors, nurses, et al.
Idania, Camila/Javier/Alejandro, and I have been so lucky to have everyone by our side.
In tandem with that, I have met many in the community that have other kidney diseases and issues. Old SLUH racquetball friends, Loyola Academy StL friends, coworkers, etc. In addition, I have a huge respect for kidney doners, who go through this very difficult surgery for others!
It seemed like a GREAT YEAR to attack the streets of NYC again AND raise some $$ for a good cause at the same time! I was hoping 300 of my closest friends had an extra $10 lying around. That would get me to my goal and then some when it's all said and done.
Right now, 37MM American adults are living with kidney disease, and the National Kidney Foundation is working hard to develop and enhance diagnosis, new treatments, and patient care. And NKF's orange is my favorite color. Can't argue with that!
For all of your support...THANK YOU FRIENDS!
