Eight and a half years ago I met one of my favorite people in the world. He's funny, thoughtful, kind, driven, and stubborn. He is the first person to help, to show up when a friend is in need and is always the most reliable person in any situation. We both love baseball, Law and Order SVU marathons, traveling, and our sweet pitbull George. Brendon lives with Polycystic Kidney Disease and as of last year, will need a kidney transplant. In the last year, we've been on an odyssey through the healthcare system, full of highs and lows. Through it all, he has remained steadfastly himself, a great dad and son, a thoughtful friend, the hardest worker, and a generous partner.

Since Brendon told me about his PKD diagnosis and as it became apparent of the last 2 years that he would need a transplant, we've relied heavily on the resources and information the National Kidney Foundation provides to patients, caregivers, and potential organ donors. On nights when I haven't been able to sleep worried about any number of things kidney patients and caregivers might experience, the National Kidney Foundation website has always been my first stop.

Right now, 37 million American adults are living with kidney disease and 1 in 3 people are at risk for kidney disease. 20% of those 37 million people are Black men and women. Black people are 3 times more likely to experience kidney failure than White people and Black communities are disproportionately affected by kidney disease for a variety of reasons including the way in which disease is diagnosed.

I'm running the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon for Brendon and patients like him, who deserve the best care possible, no matter what, and to raise funds that support the National Kidney Foundation. The NKF was the first to identify kidney disease as a distinct, treatable illness and is committed to ensuring all patients have access to quality kidney care from diagnosis to transplant.

Join me (and George 😊 ) in making these advances possible by donating to my efforts!

Thank you for your support!
